পরিচ্ছেদঃ ৬৫: মরণকে স্মরণ এবং কামনা-বাসনা কম করার গুরুত্ব
২/৫৮০। উক্ত সাহাবী রাদিয়াল্লাহু ’আনহু থেকে বর্ণিত, রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বলেছেন, ’’যে মুসলিমের নিকট অসিয়ত করার মত কোন কিছু আছে, তার জন্য দু’ রাত কাটানো জায়েয নয় এমন অবস্থা ছাড়া যে, তার অসিয়ত-নামা তার নিকট লিখিত (প্রস্তুত) থাকা উচিত।’’ (বুখারী-মুসলিম, শব্দগুলি বুখারীর)
মুসলিমের অন্য এক বর্ণনায় তিন রাত কাটানোর কথা রয়েছে। ইবনে উমার রাদিয়াল্লাহু ’আনহু বলেন, ’আমি যখন থেকে রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লামকে এ কথা বলতে শুনেছি, তখন থেকে আমার উপর এক রাতও পার হয়নি এমন অবস্থা ছাড়া যে আমার অসিয়ত-নামা আমার নিকট প্রস্তুত আছে।’ [1]
بَابُ ذِكْرِ الْمَوْتِ وَقَصْرِ الْأَمَلِ - (65)
وَعَنهُ: أنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، قَالَ: مَا حَقُّ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ، لَهُ شَيْءٌ يُوصِي فِيهِ، يَبيتُ لَيْلَتَيْنِ إِلاَّ وَوَصِيَّتُهُ مَكْتُوبَةٌ عِنْدَهُ ». متفقٌ عَلَيْهِ، هَذَا لفظ البخاري . وفي روايةٍ لمسلمٍ: «يَبِيتُ ثَلاَثَ لَيَالٍ» قَالَ ابنُ عُمَرَ: مَا مَرَّتْ عَلَيَّ لَيْلَةٌ مُنْذُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ذَلِكَ إِلاَّ وَعِنْدِي وَصِيَّتِي
(65) Chapter: Remembrance of Death and Restraint of Wishes
'Abdullah bin 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported:
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "It is the duty of a Muslim who has something which is to be given as a bequest not to have it for two nights without executing a written will."
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
In the narration of Muslim it is narrated as 'three nights'. Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) said: Since I heard the Messenger of Allah say this, I have never spent a night without having my will with me.
Commentary: The emphasis of Messenger of Allah (PBUH) on the necessity of making a last will shows that man has no knowledge of the time of his death. It is necessary for the rich that they should keep with them a testament so as to leave their affairs settled after their death and to ward off any untoward situation with regard to the distribution of their property among their inheritors.
