পরিচ্ছেদঃ ৩২২ : জ্বরকে গালি দেওয়া মকরুহ
১/১৭৩৫। জাবের রাদিয়াল্লাহু আনহু হতে বর্ণিত, রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম [একবার] উম্মে সায়েব কিম্বা উম্মে মুসাইয়িবের নিকট প্রবেশ করে বললেন,’’হে উম্মে সায়েব কিম্বা উম্মে মুসাইয়িব! তোমার কি হয়েছে যে, থরথর করে কাঁপছ?’’ সে বলল, ’জ্বর হয়েছে; আল্লাহ তাতে বরকত না দেন।’ [এ কথা শুনে] তিনি বললেন, ’’জ্বরকে গালি দিও না। জ্বর তো আদম সন্তানের পাপ মোচন করে; যেমন হাপর [ও ভাটি] লোহার ময়লা দূর করে ফেলে।’’ (মুসলিম) [1]
(322) بَابُ كَرَاهَةِ سَبِّ الْحُمَّى
عَنْ جَابِرٍ رضي الله عنه : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم دَخَلَ عَلَى أُمِّ السَّائِبِ، أَو أُمِّ المُسَيّبِ فَقَالَ: «مَا لَكِ يَا أُمَّ السَّائِبِ ـ أَو يَا أُمَّ المُسَيَّبِ ـ تُزَفْزِفِينَ ؟» قَالَتْ : الحُمَّى لاَ بَارَكَ اللهُ فِيهَا ! فَقَالَ: «لاَ تَسُبِّي الحُمَّى فَإِنَّهَا تُذْهِبُ خَطَايَا بَنِي آدَمَ كَمَا يُذْهِبُ الكِيْرُ خَبَثَ الحَدِيدِ» . رواه مسلم
(322) Chapter: Undesirability of Reviling Fever
Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) visited Umm Sa'ib (or Umm Musaiyyab) and asked her, "What ails you O Umm Sa'ib (or Umm Musaiyyab)? You are shivering." She replied: "It is a fever, may Allah not bless it!" He said to her, "Do not revile fever, for it cleanses out the sins of the sons of Adam in the same way that a furnace removes the dirt of iron."

Commentary: We learn from this Hadith that as diseases are means of expiation of sins, one should not condemn them. More so for the person that they are a part of fate - the Will of Allah. However, there is no harm in taking necessary measures to overcome them because Shari'ah makes it obligatory to do so..
