পরিচ্ছেদঃ ২৩৪: জিহাদ ওয়াজিব এবং তাতে সকাল-সন্ধ্যার মাহাত্ম্য
৩১/১৩২৩। আনাস রাদিয়াল্লাহু আনহু হতে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম স্বীয় সহচরবৃন্দের সাথে (বদরাভিমুখে) রওনা দিলেন। পরিশেষে মুশরিকদের পূর্বেই তাঁরা বদর স্থানে পৌঁছে গেলেন। তারপর মু-শরিকগণ সেখানে এসে পৌঁছল। রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বললেন, “তোমরা অবশ্যই কেউ কোন বিষয়ে আগে বেড়ে কিছু করবে না; যতক্ষণ আমি নির্দেশ না দেব অথবা আমি স্বয়ং তা করব।” সুতরাং যখন মুশরিকরা নিকটবর্তী হল, তখন রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বললেন, “তোমরা সেই জান্নাতের দিকে ওঠো, যার প্রস্থ হল আকাশমণ্ডলী ও পৃথিবী সমান।”
বর্ণনাকারী বলেন, উমাইর ইবনে হুমাম আনসারী রাদিয়াল্লাহু আনহু নিবেদন করলেন, ’হে আল্লাহর রাসূল! জান্নাতের প্রস্থ আকাশমণ্ডলী ও পৃথিবী সমান?’ তিনি বললেন, “হ্যাঁ।” উমাইর বললেন, ’বাঃ বাঃ!’ রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম বললেন, “বাঃ বাঃ’ শব্দ উচ্চারণ করার জন্য তোমাকে কোন জিনিস উদ্বুদ্ধ করল?” উমাইর বললেন, ’আল্লাহর শপথ! হে আল্লাহর রাসূল! তার (জান্নাতের) অধিবাসী হওয়ার কামনা ছাড়া আর কিছুই নয়।’ তিনি বললেন, “তুমি তার অধিবাসীদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত।”
অতঃপর তিনি কতিপয় খেজুর স্বীয় তূণ থেকে বের করে খেতে শুরু করলেন। তারপর বললেন, ’যদি আমি এগুলি খেতে থাকি, তবে দীর্ঘক্ষণ জীবিত থাকতে হবে (এত দেরী সহ্য হবে না)।’ বিধায় তিনি তাঁর কাছে যত খেজুর ছিল, সব ফেলে দিয়ে যুদ্ধে লিপ্ত হয়ে পড়লেন। অবশেষে শহীদ হয়ে গেলেন। (মুসলিম)[1]
(234) بَابُ فَضْلِ الْـجِهَادِ
وَعَن أَنَسٍ رضي الله عنه، قَالَ: اِنْطَلَقَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم صلى الله عليه وسلم وَأَصْحَابُهُ حَتَّى سَبَقُوا المُشْرِكِينَ إِلَى بَدْرٍ، وَجَاءَ المُشْرِكُونَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم صلى الله عليه وسلم : «لاَ يَقْدِمَنَّ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ إِلَى شَيْءٍ حَتَّى أَكُونَ أنَا دُونَهُ» . فَدَنَا المُشْرِكُونَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم صلى الله عليه وسلم : «قُومُوا إِلَى جَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالأَرْضُ» قَالَ: يَقُولُ عُمَيْرُ بن الحُمَامِ الأَنْصَارِيُّ رضي الله عنه: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، جَنَّةٌ عَرْضُهَا السَّماوَاتُ وَالأَرْضُ ؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ» قَالَ: بَخٍ بَخٍ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم صلى الله عليه وسلم : «مَا يَحْمِلُكَ عَلَى قَولِكَ بَخٍ بَخٍ ؟» قَالَ: لاَ وَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِلاَّ رَجَاءَ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا، قَالَ: «فَإِنَّكَ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا». فَأَخْرَجَ تَمَرَاتٍ مِنْ قَرَنِهِ، فَجَعَلَ يَأكُلُ مِنْهُنَّ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: لَئِنْ أَنَا حَيِيتُ حَتَّى آكُلَ تَمَرَاتِي هَذِهِ إِنّهَا لَحَياةٌ طَوِيلَةٌ، فَرَمَى بِمَا كَانَ مَعَهُ مِنَ التَّمْرِ، ثُمَّ قَاتَلَهُمْ حَتَّى قُتِلَ . رواه مسلم
(234) Chapter: Obligation of Jihad
Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and his Companions reached Badr before the polytheists, and when they arrived, he (ﷺ) directed: "Let no one of you advance ahead of me." When the polytheists came near, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Now stand up and proceed towards Jannah which is as wide as are the heavens and the earth." 'Umair bin Al-Humam (May Allah be pleased with him) asked: "Is Jannah as wide as are the heaven and the earth?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) replied in the affirmative. 'Umair remarked: "Great!" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) asked him what had urged him to say so. He replied: "Nothing, O Messenger of Allah! But hope that I might become one of the inhabitants of Jannah." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "You will definitely be among them." 'Umair then took some dates out of his quiver and began to eat them, but after a short time he said: "If I survive till I eat my dates, it will mean a long life." So he threw away the dates which he had with him and then fought with the enemy till he was killed.

Commentary: This Hadith brings out the following three points:
1. The importance of the obedience of the leader. Soldiers should wait for the orders of their commander, and should not take any step without his orders.
2. In order to infuse the true spirit of Jihad among the soldiers, they should be told and reminded about the blessings of Jannah so that they fight with enthusiasm and valour for attaining it.
3. The Hadith manifests the love of the Companions of the Prophet (PBUH) for the Hereafter which overwhelmed their interests in the attractions of the life of the world.
