(60) Chapter: Excellence of Generosity and Spending in a Good cause with Reliance on Allah

Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) never said 'no' to anyone who asked him for anything. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]. Commentary: This Hadith illustrates the refined morals, sublimity of soul and the generosity of the Prophet (PBUH). Had somebody asked him of something, provided it was in his possession, he would never say `no' to him. He would also on occasions resort to borrowing to meet the want of a needy person. If the borrowing were not possible, he would promise to fulfill his need.
