পরিচ্ছেদঃ ২৩৪: জিহাদ ওয়াজিব এবং তাতে সকাল-সন্ধ্যার মাহাত্ম্য
আল্লাহ তা’আলা বলেছেন,
﴿ وَقَاتِلُوا المُشْرِكِينَ كَافَّةً كَمَا يُقَاتِلُونَكُمْ كَافَّةً وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللهَ مَعَ المُتَّقِينَ ﴾ ( التوبة: ৩৬ )
অর্থাৎ আর অংশী-বাদীদের সকলের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ কর, যেমন তারা তোমাদের সকলের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করে। আর জেনে রেখো যে, আল্লাহ মুত্তাকীগণের সাথে রয়েছেন। (সূরা তওবা ৩৬ আয়াত)
তিনি অন্যত্র বলেছেন,
﴿كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْقِتَالُ وَهُوَ كُرْهٌ لَكُمْ ۖ وَعَسَىٰ أَنْ تَكْرَهُوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ ۖ وَعَسَىٰ أَنْ تُحِبُّوا شَيْئًا وَهُوَ شَرٌّ لَكُمْ ۗ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ﴾ (البقرة: ٢١٦)
অর্থাৎ তোমাদের জন্য যুদ্ধের বিধান দেওয়া হল। যদিও এটা তোমাদের কাছে অপছন্দ; কিন্তু তোমরা যা পছন্দ কর না সম্ভবত: তা তোমাদের জন্য কল্যাণকর এবং তোমরা যা পছন্দ কর সম্ভবত: তা তোমাদের জন্য অকল্যাণকর। আল্লাহ জানেন, তোমরা জান না। (সূরা বাকারাহ ২১৬ আয়াত)
তিনি আরও বলেছেন,
﴿انْفِرُوا خِفَافًا وَثِقَالًا وَجَاهِدُوا بِأَمْوَالِكُمْ وَأَنْفُسِكُمْ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴾ [التوبة: ٤١]
“দুর্বল হও অথবা সবল সর্বাবস্থাতেই তোমরা বের হও এবং আল্লাহর পথে নিজেদের মাল ও জান দ্বারা জিহাদ কর।” (সূরা তওবা ৪১ আয়াত)
তিনি অন্য জায়গায় বলেছেন,
﴿إِنَّ اللَّهَ اشْتَرَىٰ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ ۚ يُقَاتِلُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَيَقْتُلُونَ وَيُقْتَلُونَ ۖ وَعْدًا عَلَيْهِ حَقًّا فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنْجِيلِ وَالْقُرْآنِ ۚ وَمَنْ أَوْفَىٰ بِعَهْدِهِ مِنَ اللَّهِ ۚ فَاسْتَبْشِرُوا بِبَيْعِكُمُ الَّذِي بَايَعْتُمْ بِهِ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ﴾ [التوبة: ١١١]
“নিঃসন্দেহে আল্লাহ মুমিনদের নিকট থেকে তাদের প্রাণ ও তাদের ধন-সম্পদসমূহকে জান্নাতের বিনিময়ে ক্রয় করে নিয়েছেন; তারা আল্লাহর পথে যুদ্ধ করে, যাতে তারা হত্যা করে এবং নিহত হয়ে যায়। এ (যুদ্ধে)র দরুন (জান্নাত প্রদানের) সত্য অঙ্গীকার করা হয়েছে তাওরাতে, ইঞ্জিলে এবং কুরআনে; আর নিজের অঙ্গীকার পালনে আল্লাহ অপেক্ষা শ্রেষ্ঠতর অন্য কে আছে? অতএব তোমরা আনন্দ করতে থাক তোমাদের এই ক্রয়-বিক্রয়ের উপর যা তোমরা সম্পাদন করেছ। আর এটা হচ্ছে মহা সাফল্য।” (সূরা তওবা ১১১)
তিনি অন্যত্র বলেছেন,
﴿لَا يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ غَيْرُ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ وَالْمُجَاهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ ۚ فَضَّلَ اللَّهُ الْمُجَاهِدِينَ بِأَمْوَالِهِمْ وَأَنْفُسِهِمْ عَلَى الْقَاعِدِينَ دَرَجَةً ۚ وَكُلًّا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ وَفَضَّلَ اللَّهُ الْمُجَاهِدِينَ عَلَى الْقَاعِدِينَ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًا دَرَجَاتٍ مِنْهُ وَمَغْفِرَةً وَرَحْمَةً ۚ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَحِيمًا﴾ (النساء : ٩٥)
অর্থাৎ ঈমানদারদের মধ্যে যারা অক্ষম নয় অথচ ঘরে বসে থাকে তারা এবং যারা আল্লাহর পথে স্বীয় ধন-প্রাণ দ্বারা জিহাদ করে, তারা সমান নয়। যারা স্বীয় ধন-প্রাণ দ্বারা জিহাদ করে আল্লাহ তাদেরকে যারা ঘরে বসে থাকে তাদের উপর মর্যাদা দিয়েছেন; আল্লাহ সকলকেই কল্যাণের প্রতিশ্রুতি দিয়েছেন। আর যারা ঘরে বসে থাকে তাদের উপর যারা জিহাদ করে তাদেরকে আল্লাহ মহা পুরস্কার দিয়ে শ্রেষ্ঠত্ব দান করেছেন। এ তাঁর (আল্লাহর) তরফ হতে মর্যাদা, ক্ষমা ও দয়া। বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহ অত্যন্ত ক্ষমাশীল, পরম দয়ালু। (সূরা নিসা ৯৫-৯৬ আয়াত)
তিনি আরও বলেছেন,
﴿ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ هَلۡ أَدُلُّكُمۡ عَلَىٰ تِجَٰرَةٖ تُنجِيكُم مِّنۡ عَذَابٍ أَلِيمٖ ١٠ تُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَتُجَٰهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ بِأَمۡوَٰلِكُمۡ وَأَنفُسِكُمۡۚ ذَٰلِكُمۡ خَيۡرٞ لَّكُمۡ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡلَمُونَ ١١ يَغۡفِرۡ لَكُمۡ ذُنُوبَكُمۡ وَيُدۡخِلۡكُمۡ جَنَّٰتٖ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِهَا ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ وَمَسَٰكِنَ طَيِّبَةٗ فِي جَنَّٰتِ عَدۡنٖۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡفَوۡزُ ٱلۡعَظِيمُ ١٢ وَأُخۡرَىٰ تُحِبُّونَهَاۖ نَصۡرٞ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ وَفَتۡحٞ قَرِيبٞۗ وَبَشِّرِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ ١٣ ﴾ (الصف: ١٠، ١٣)
অর্থাৎ হে ঈমানদারগণ! আমি কি তোমাদেরকে এমন এক বাণিজ্যের সন্ধান বলে দিব না, যা তোমাদেরকে যন্ত্রণাদায়ক শাস্তি হতে রক্ষা করবে? (তা এই যে,) তোমরা আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রাসূলে বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করবে এবং তোমাদের ধন-সম্পদ ও জীবন দ্বারা আল্লাহর পথে জিহাদ করবে। এটাই তোমাদের জন্য শ্রেয় যদি তোমরা জানতে। আল্লাহ তোমাদের পাপ-রাশিকে ক্ষমা করে দেবেন এবং তোমাদেরকে প্রবেশ করাবেন জান্নাতে; যার নিম্নদেশে নদীমালা প্রবাহিত এবং (প্রবেশ করাবেন) স্থায়ী জান্নাতের উত্তম বাসগৃহে। এটাই মহা সাফল্য। আর তিনি তোমাদেরকে দান করবেন বাঞ্ছিত আরও একটি অনুগ্রহ; আল্লাহর সাহায্য ও আসন্ন বিজয়। আর বিশ্ববাসীদেরকে সুসংবাদ দাও। (সূরা সাফ্ ১০-১৩ আয়াত)
এ মর্মে প্রসিদ্ধ বহু আয়াত রয়েছে। আর জিহাদের ফযীলত সংক্রান্ত হাদিসও রয়েছে অগণিত। তন্মধ্যে কতিপয় নিম্নরূপ:-
১/১২৯৩। আবূ হুরাইরা রাদিয়াল্লাহু আনহু হতে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন রাসূলুল্লাহ সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম-কে জিজ্ঞাসা হল, ’সর্বোত্তম কাজ কি?’ তিনি বললেন, “আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রাসূলের প্রতি বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করা।” জিজ্ঞাসা করা হল, ’তারপর কি?’ তিনি বললেন, “আল্লাহর পথে জিহাদ করা।” পুনরায় জিজ্ঞাসা করা হল, ’অতঃপর কি?’ তিনি বললেন, “মাবরূর’ (বিশুদ্ধ বা গৃহীত) হজ্জ।” (বুখারী-মুসলিম) [1]
(234) بَابُ فَضْلِ الْـجِهَادِ
عن أَبِي هُرَيرَةَ رضي الله عنه، قَالَ: سُئِلَ رَسُول اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم: أيُّ العَمل أفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ: «إيمَانٌ بِاللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ» قيلَ: ثُمَّ مَاذَا؟ قَالَ: «الجهادُ في سَبيلِ اللهِ» قِيلَ: ثُمَّ مَاذَا ؟ قَالَ: «حَجٌّ مَبْرُورٌ». متفقٌ عَلَيْهِ
(234) Chapter: Obligation of Jihad
Allah, the Exalted, says:
"And fight against the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) collectively as they fight against you collectively. But know that Allah is with those who are Al-Muttaqun (the pious).'' (9:36)
"Jihad (holy fighting in Allah's Cause) is ordained for you (Muslims) though you dislike it, and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.'' (2:216)
"March forth, whether you are light (being healthy, young and wealthy) or heavy (being ill, old and poor), and strive hard with your wealth and your lives in the Cause of Allah'' (9:41)
"Verily, Allah has purchased of the believers their lives and their properties for (the price) that theirs shall be the Jannah. They fight in Allah's Cause, so they kill (others) and are killed. It is a promise in truth which is binding on Him in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel) and the Qur'an. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah? Then rejoice in the bargain which you have concluded. That is the supreme success.'' (9:111)
"Not equal are those of the believers who sit (at home), except those who are disabled (by injury or are blind or lame), and those who strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives. Allah has preferred in grades those who strive hard and fight with their wealth and their lives above those who sit (at home). Unto each, Allah has promised good (Jannah), but Allah has preferred those who strive hard and fight, above those who sit (at home) by a huge reward. Degrees of (higher) grades from Him, and forgiveness and mercy. And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.'' (4:95, 96)
"O you who believe! Shall I guide you to a trade that will save you from a painful torment? That you believe in Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad (PBUH)), and that you strive hard and fight in the Cause of Allah with your wealth and your lives: that will be better for you, if you but know! (If you do so) He will forgive you your sins, and admit you into Gardens under which rivers flow, and pleasant dwellings in `Adn (Eden) Jannah; that is indeed the great success. And also (He will give you) another (blessing) which you love: help from Allah (against your enemies) and a near victory. And give glad tidings (O Muhammad (PBUH)) to the believers.'' (61:10-13)
The Qur'anic Ayat relating to the subject under study are many. The Ahadith are also many; these include the following:

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked, "Which deed is the best?" He (ﷺ) replied, "Faith in Allah and His Messenger." He (ﷺ) was asked, "What is next?" He (ﷺ) replied, "Jihad (holy fighting) in the Cause of Allah." Then he was asked: "What is after that (in goodness)?" He (ﷺ) replied, "Hajj Mabrur (which is accepted by Allah)."

Commentary: This Hadith has already been mentioned. See Hadith No. 1274. Different acts have been regarded more meritorious in different Ahadith. For this reason, some scholars have performed the justification that the word mun "whoever" is the keynote in such cases. That is, such and such acts come in the category of eminent acts or they have been mentioned with reference to circumstances and time or place. For instance, at certain times or at certain places or for certain persons, performing Salat in the early prescribed hours is more meritorious, or Hajj through representative or Jihad is more meritorious, etc. Some scholars are of the opinion that the eminence of different acts has been stressed keeping the person addressed in view.
Linguistically, the word "Hajj'' means `journey to a place one respects'. Technically, it means `journey to Makkah in order to perform the pilgrimage rites.' The word "Mabrur'' is from "Birr'' meaning obedience, piety, but it signifies here an act which is done sincerely without committing a sin.
