পরিচ্ছেদঃ ৬৮: হারাম বস্তুর ব্যাপারে সাবধানতা অবলম্বন এবং সন্দিহান বস্তু পরিহার করার গুরুত্ব
৪/৫৯৬। ওয়াবেসাহ ইবনে মা’বাদ রাদিয়াল্লাহু ’আনহু থেকে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, আমি আল্লাহর রাসূল সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম এর নিকট এলাম। অতঃপর তিনি বললেন, ’’তুমি পুণ্যের ব্যাপারে জিজ্ঞাসা করতে এসেছ?’’ আমি বললাম, ’জী হ্যাঁ।’ তিনি বললেন, ’’তুমি তোমার অন্তরকে (ফতোয়া) জিজ্ঞাসা কর। পুণ্য হল তা, যার প্রতি তোমার মন প্রশান্ত হয় এবং অন্তর পরিতৃপ্ত হয়। আর পাপ হল তা, যা মনে খটকা সৃষ্টি করে এবং অন্তর সন্দিহান হয় ; যদিও লোকেরা তোমাকে (তার বৈধ হওয়ার) ফতোয়া দিয়ে থাকে।’’ (আহমাদ, দারেমী) [1]
بَابُ الْوَرَعِ وَتَرْكِ الشُّبُهَاتِ - (68)
وَعَن وَابِصَةَ بنِ مَعبَدٍ رضي الله عنه، قَالَ: أتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم صلى الله عليه وسلم، فَقَالَ:« جئتَ تَسْألُ عَنِ البِرِّ ؟ » قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، فَقَالَ: «اسْتَفْتِ قَلْبَكَ، البرُّ: مَا اطْمَأنَّت إِلَيْهِ النَّفسُ، وَاطْمأنَّ إِلَيْهِ القَلْبُ، وَالإثْمُ: مَا حَاكَ في النَّفْسِ، وَتَرَدَّدَ فِي الصَّدْرِ، وَإنْ أفْتَاكَ النَّاسُ وَأفْتَوكَ » حديث حسن، رواه أحمد والدَّارمِيُّ في مُسْنَدَيْهِمَا
(68) Chapter: Leading an Abstemious Life and refraining from the Doubtful
Wabisah bin Ma'bad (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
I went to Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he asked me, "Have you come to inquire about piety?" I replied in the affirmative. Then he said, "Ask your heart regarding it. Piety is that which contents the soul and comforts the heart, and sin is that which causes doubts and perturbs the heart, even if people pronounce it lawful and give you verdicts on such matters again and again."

Commentary: There are two points about this Hadith. First, it is one of the miracles of Messenger of Allah (PBUH) who discovered the nature of the question before it was put to him. Second, man's heart is the biggest guide to him and he, therefore, should keep his heart illuminated with the light of Faith so as to continue receiving guidance from it.
